Objective:

  • Provide financial assistance to income generation projects that would contribute to the economic and social development of the target group.

    Project Type:

    Selection are base on long term and secured markets, applicants business related experience, project’s ability to repay the loan funds, applicant’s management and supervision. Projects that have bee assisted are:
    • Tailoring and screen printing - made to measure or contract;
    • Nursery and cut flower
    • Retailing
    • Kindergarten
    • Honey production
    • Accommodation
    • Handicrafts - production and retail
    • Food catering
    • Beauty and Hairdressing

    Target Groups:

    • Women

    Selection Criteria:

    • To qualify for a loan, the project must be viable and have the capacity to service the loan. Viability is assessed by the same standards and criteria that the Fiji Development Bank applies to its loans.
    • 'Testing Period' is also practiced for most projects that clients have established through their own resources before FDB assists to assess their reliability and commitment towards their business.
    • The scheme lends minimum of FJ$1000.00 and maximum of FJ$10,000.00.
    • 20% of the total project cost is the equity contribution which may be waived in case of exceptional viability. Collateral security in lieu of cash contribution will be sought whenever possible.
    • The bank may take any tangible assets financed as security but may require additional appropriate collateral from borrowers in accordance with normal prudence and business banking practice.
    • Interest rate is 12.0% per annum.
    • Loan term is determined by the purpose of the loan and the project’s capacity to repay but term should not exceed five years.
    • Other factors include: age, physical wellbeing, contribution tot he community, knowledge of the project, family participation, governing body approval and licensing
